Native California girl Hailey Clauson spends all year traveling from coast to coast, with stints in between at exotic locales for the occasional swim shoot. Truth be told, it’s all work and very little play (even though her glamorous Instagram feed may tell a different story). So what does she do as soon as she wraps her last gig of the summer? More travel! Here, Clauson gives us the rundown on her summer holiday tour and all of her favorite cocktails that go along with it.
CHAMPAGNE IN CANNES
“My first trip of the summer was for the amfAR Runway Show during the Cannes Film Festival. When I’m backstage, my drink of choice is a glass of champagne with a straw, so I don’t get lipstick everywhere. At Cannes, all of the girls have champagnes backstage and it’s more of a party environment than a typical fashion show. You can’t really get a bad photo there—everything is so picturesque.”
CORONAS IN CALI
“Coronas are very California. Very Huntington Beach. It’s the best beach-chilling-laying-out kind of drink. Always with a lime. I like the mini ones because you can fit them in your purse.”
PINA COLADA’S IN PALM SPRINGS
“Pina Colada’s will always remind me of the pool at the Ace Hotel. We always hang out here when in town for Coachella.”
RUM IN CAPE COD
“A flask of rum is the way to go in Cape Cod. My boyfriend and I do a trip here with 10 of our close friends every year. During the day we sit on this dock and everyone shares it, which is kind of cute.
MARGARITAS IN TULUM, MEXICO
“I have probably tried every single margarita in Tulum, but I can’t remember where because I’ve had too many! I like freshly made margaritas with real juice and salt—especially when on a beach vacation. The best part of drinking these in Tulum is that all of the tequila is made with pure agave, so you never get a hangover.”
COSMOS NEW YORK CITY
“When the summer is over, it’ll be back to New York for Fashion Week. My Carrie Bradshaw moment in NYC is going to a bar with my girlfriends. There’s this cute restaurant called Lucien where we go for drinks, steak au poive, and French fries.”
