Luxury Ski Resort at The Chedi Andermatt, Switzerland

A luxury Swiss hotel and ski resort nestled within the Swiss Alps, The Chedi Andermatt offers natural, year round beauty like no other hotel in Switzerland.

Opened in December 2013, The Chedi Andermatt can be found at the crossroads of three mountain passes in Urserental, in the heart of the Swiss Alps. It is accessible via three Alpine
passes: the Oberalp Pass to the east, the St. Gotthard Pass in the south and the Furka Pass in the west, while the Schöllenen gorge is in the north.

The opening of The Chedi Andermatt in December 2013 marks a milestone in the development of the Andermatt Swiss Alps resort, a year-round resort featuring apartments, chalets, hotels and leisure facilities.

Unique Architecture
The opening of The Chedi Andermatt sets a new standard in design and hospitality in Switzerland. Jean-Michel Gathy, Chief designer and advisor for Denniston International Architects & Planners Ltd., from Kuala Lumpur, is responsible for the signature style of the hotel, which carefully balances tradition with nature. Alpine chic meets Asian nuances throughout the 5-star hotel. In the 123 appointed rooms and suites (from 52 square metres to 330 square metres) Gathy achieves this cohesion by using local elements with a keen attention to detail – large fireplaces, wood panelling, and terraces allowing the indoor and outdoor spaces to blend seamlessly together.

The Chedi Andermatt’s guests can choose from 31 Deluxe rooms and 13 Grand Deluxe rooms (each of which is 52-55 square metres in area), 4 Junior Deluxe Suites, 50 Deluxe Suites, 23 Grand Deluxe Suites (190 square metres), the 134 square metre Gemsstock Suite and the Furka Suite with 330 square metres of grand living space.

Restaurants and bars
Designed by SPIN Design Studio from Japan, The Chedi Andermatt offers the following culinary facilities: The Restaurant showcases four open kitchens specialising in cold cuts, desserts, Western and Asian Cuisine and is open all day. The Japanese Restaurant seats fortysix guests, for maximum exclusivity and privacy, where guests can choose to sit at either the open Sushi and Sashimi Bar or the Tempura and Teppanyaki Bar, where authentic Japanese delicacies will be served. A selection of Japanese sake and beer is available as well as expertly paired wine and Champagne. The Wine & Cigar Library invites guests to enjoy views of The Courtyard in this walk-in humidor, which also offers some of the finest wines by the glass. The Lobby is the place to see and be seen, surrounded by The Bar, The Spa & Health Club, The Pool Area and The Wine & Cigar Library. With two fireplaces for a warm atmosphere it is the place to enjoy small dishes as well as The Chedi Afternoon Tea. The Bar and Living Room is where guests can meet and relax after a long day on the slopes or on the golf course. It is also the place to meet the ski butler to arrange the next day’s skiing around small dishes of local snacks with wine and beer. The Courtyard is the perfect place to unwind in the winter and summer months alike. Featuring a terrace and large pond, guests are treated to a breath-taking view of the Gemsstock Mountain, beside a small bar serving refreshing drinks in warm weather, and mulled wine in the chilly months. The Pool Area offers guests not only a 35- metre indoor pool, but also an outdoor swimming pool, complete with bath towels, sun creams, beauty products, magazines and newspapers, and light refreshments.

Fitness and Relaxation
The Spa and Health Club at The Chedi Andermatt extends to 2,400 square metres. In addition to a 35 metre indoor pool and 12 metre outdoor pool, it features a variety of smaller pools, a Finnish sauna and hammam and ten spa suites offering treatments using natural products from ila, REN and Alpienne. The Health Club is equipped with the latest Technogym equipment and personal trainers are on hand to create customised programmes for guests that can easily be put into daily practice after leaving the hotel. Training can extend beyond the Health Club as guests can enjoy yoga, hiking, mountain biking and skiing within the hotel’s natural alpine surroundings.
